A Talk by British Journalist Roy Greenslade

![]() Roy Greenslade has been a journalist in the U.K. for 40 years and has worked on most of the major British national newspapers. He has been a columnist for The Guardian, Britain's prestigious liberal daily newspaper, for more than 12 years. He is the author of three books, including a biography of the late press tycoon, Robert Maxwell. His latest book is an acclaimed history of British newspapers entitled Press Gang: How Newspapers Make Profits from Propaganda. Mr. Greenslade is a regular broadcaster on media matters in Britain and Ireland. He is a Professor of Journalism at the City University in London. Mr. Greenslade's talk is supported in part by a donation from the British High Commission. The day previous to his visit to Ottawa, Mr. Greenslade will have delivered an Atkinson Lecture at Ryerson Univesity in Toronto entitled, "Patriotism and the Media: Why Journalists Cannot Work to the Slogan, 'My Country Right or Wrong' ".
