Jim Bronskill and David McKie are two journalists who have successfully used Access to Information legislation in their daily work. They are also experienced teachers and mentors in the field.

Jim Bronskill, an Ottawa-based reporter for CanWest News Service (formerly Southam News), has been using and writing about Access to Information legislation for a number of years. A search of the Infomart database of Canadian news stories over the last three years shows more than 450 citations which have the by-line Jim Bronskill and the phrase "access to information". Last year Bronskill and Southam News colleague David Pugliese won the CAJ's top award for investigative journalism for their series "The Criminalization of Dissent", which made extensive use of Access to Information requests.

David McKie has been an Ottawa-based reporter with CBC Radio for the past 15 years and is editor of the CAJ's Media magazine. McKie has used the federal Access to Information law as a starting point for many investigations on stories ranging from Health Canada's laws for the approval of drugs and medical devices to Correctional Service's Canada's attempts to deal with corrupt guards. McKie has presented workshops on using ATI at Carleton University's Journalism School and for the Canadian Association of Journalists.
